Donald: “As a young boy I watched countless Ryder Cup tournaments and was vice-captain in the last two, playing four times. The feeling and excitement of that moment will always be with me.

“You are the heartbeat of this event, you are our 13th man, let’s make this the loudest Ryder Cup ever.”

Team Monty prevailed in today’s inaugural Ryder Cup All-Star Match, defeating Team Pavin 7-4 in a closely contested seven-hole match at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

24-time tennis Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic combined with G4D Tour player Kip Poppert to hit a perfect opening tee shot that set up a 3-1 victory over Scuderia Ferrari Formula One driver Carlos Sainz and Italian G4D Tour player Tommaso Perino. Did it. Both had strong local support. Djokovic also managed to drive the iconic short par 4 16th, a hole that promises to be the scene of some epic battles when the Ryder Cup begins on Friday.

Match two, which featured the All-American pairing of actress Kathryn Newton and former NFL player Victor Cruz, ended in a 2–2 tie against the pairing of Italian professional surfer Leonardo Fioravanti and Dude Perfect’s Garrett Hilbert.

Despite everything, captain Colin Montgomerie performed brilliantly in the closing holes to secure a 2–1 win with close support from his teammate Gareth Bale in the match against Andriy Shevchenko, another Ukrainian football legend and rival captain. Corey Pavin.

Speaking about the win, winning captain Colin Montgomerie said: “Playing in the Ryder Cup was a big part of my life and my career and today really took me back there. I’m really proud of coming 18th. Was getting a bit emotional and it was really a privilege to captain such a talented team of all stars. It was also amazing to see the fantastic crowd support all the way.
