Trade packages 2023
The Bucks are sending Joe Holiday, a 2029 unprotected first-round pick and 2028 and 2030 picks to Milwaukee in an unprotected pick swap to Portland, per Woj, while the Suns are also sending Deandre Ayton and Toumani Camara to the Blazers.
And for good measure, it appears the Blazers may be able to add even more assets, as Wojnarowski also revealed the team is expected to “immediately engage competing teams in trade talks to move forward on Jury Holiday.” are supposed to.
For now, the Blazers picked up a new high-upside big man in Ayton, a first-round pick, two pick swaps and a player they could potentially flip in another trade for more pieces.
When compared to the Heat offering, it’s basically apples and oranges.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Heat’s reported offer (among several different rumors) included a deal based around Tyler Herro, two first-round picks (2028 and 2030) as well as Kyle Lowry or Duncan. Robinson. There were other reported offers, but most of them centered around some mixture of that and/or possibly Nikola Jovic.
In his overall valuation, the Blazers essentially got a two-pick swap from Milwaukee rather than an additional first-round pick from Miami. They also added Ayton and Holiday in place of Herro and Lowry/Robinson.
As you’ll see, this was a bad move for Portland, and they were wise to wait it out. But that doesn’t change the fact that now Bucks fans will have to wait and see how Lillard reacts to the idea of playing somewhere other than Miami. However, the idea of teaming up with Giannis Antetokounmpo would at least bring a lot of intrigue.
