Now the Colts must decide who will permanently fill the void created by the sacking of Frank Reich. Saturday said several times during the season that he wanted that job and did so again on Monday, but said no interviews have been conducted at this time.

Jeff Saturday: Press conference| Coaching career| Fired

Jeff spoke to the media on Monday for the last time as interim head coach of the Indianapolis Colts following the conclusion of the 2022 season on Saturday.

If Saturday does meet with the media again, it’s likely because he will be hired as the permanent head coach moving forward. However, those interviews haven’t even started as of Monday.

Saturday touched on several topics, reiterating how difficult it was for him to handle the situation in the middle of the season. Like he really wanted us to know how difficult it was to win the last eight games of the season because of his inherited condition.

Coaching career

On January 20, 2017, Saturday was named head coach of Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Georgia.

On Saturday, February 14, 2020, resigned as head coach at Hebron Christian. During his time there he went 20-16 making the playoffs every year while winning three playoff games including a state quarterfinal appearance in 2019.

Fired

For Jeff, Saturday was not a good day. The former Indianapolis Colts center made headlines when he was hired as head coach earlier this year with no prior coaching experience in the NFL, CFL, or college football.

In the end, interim coaches are generally just that – interim. However, former All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith thinks Indianapolis Colts head coach Jeff Saturday’s time should come earlier than usual, and wants him to be the first interim coach fired during the season.

After the shock defeat, Saturday criticized the “undisciplined football” played by the unit. “Teams like this cannot be allowed to stay in the game, and we have committed too many penalties on both sides of the ball. Again, too many people are to blame.”

What teams did Jeff Saturday play for in the NFL?

Saturday’s NFL career spanned 13 years with the Indianapolis Colts (1999–2011) and one year with the Green Bay Packers (2012). Although he entered the league as a free agent, Saturday was a fixture on the Colts teams that won Super Bowl XLI and represented the AFC in Super Bowl XLIV.

Why did Jeff Saturday retire?
“I just didn’t enjoy it that much, and that’s when I found out,” Saturday said in a phone interview on Wednesday. “I always told my wife, ‘Look, when it’s not fun, that’s when I’ll know it’s time.’ I wasn’t that energetic about it.
