Zion Latif Williamson (born July 6, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He plays power forward position. After a freshman stint with the Duke Blue Devils, Williamson was selected by the Pelicans with the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020. In 2021, he became the fourth youngest NBA player to be selected to the All-Star Game.

Foot injury
The injury is on the same foot that required surgery in 2021 and kept Williamson out of action last season. Green is not concerned about the long-term issue of this injury, telling reporters that “everything went well” and Williamson is considered day-to-day. Green did not rule out a return for Williamson on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls.
There’s definitely some hope, Green said, but we’ll see how he feels after tonight.
Williamson was injured during Saturday’s win over the Houston Rockets. He stepped on Rockets forward Osman Garuba’s foot and his ankle rolled. He fell to the floor in obvious pain.
He returned to the game, but the Pelicans later listed him as questionable before ruling him out on Tuesday.
After missing out last season, Williamson has returned to form in a big way in 2022. Through 11 games, he averaged 23.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 56.6% from the field. The Pelicans are off to a 7-6 start and are counting on Williamson to anchor the team along with Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum in a competitive Western Conference.
