Justin Brooks Verlander (born February 20, 1983) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also played in MLB for the Detroit Tigers. Verlander was acquired by the Astros on 31 August. The right-handed batsman gave his title run a major boost, posting an ERA of 1.06 in five starts to end the regular season. He was named ALCS MVP and had a 2.21 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 36.2 innings in six matches in the post season.
