Cleveland Browns RB Karim Hunt
There seemed to be a lot of interest in Hunt, who earlier this year asked for a trade after asking for a contract extension. The Browns were reportedly ready to replace him for a fourth-round draft pick, but neither team was. With one year left on his contract, Hunt will test the waters of free agency in 2023, but not before he continues to split backfield duties with Nick Chubb in Cleveland.

The move proves the Browns aren’t giving up their season just yet, especially after eliminating the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night, and they still value Hunt’s offensive role. At 3-5, Cleveland is still within striking distance of AFC North as the team moves into their Week 9 bye. After Deshan Watson’s return from an 11-match suspension, he also has three divisional games left.

Houston Texans WR Brandin Cook
There were apparently “negotiations” for the cooks before the deadline, but nothing happened. This prompted Wideout to tweet a cryptic post where Cook wrote “Don’t underestimate the kindness of a man. Lies are covered for too long. Crossed the line with playing with my career.” Reading Between the Line: It’s as if Cook thought he was moving and was surprised when he wasn’t.

Why can’t Texans find a mate? Some of this had to do with Cook’s age (29), the contract (guaranteed $18.5 million in 2023) and the compensation the Texans desired (a second-round pick). According to ESPN’s Ed Vedder, the Dallas Cowboys reportedly couldn’t land a deal because of the latter two issues.

For now, the Texans are prepared to potentially keep a significant portion of their struggling offense outside this offseason this year. Houston is ranked 29th in points and 25th in passing.

To the rams

They do not plan on missing out on the Karim Hunt.

According to various reports, the Rams are front and center in the business discussion with the Cleveland Browns for the talented and versatile Hunt.

The Browns are eager to sell Hunt, who asked for a trade this summer, as he looks to become a free agent season after season. With the standout back of Nick Chubb in their stable, Cleveland is looking to build up its draft capital for next year by replacing Hunt this year.

LA is all ears because its running sport has been the equivalent of running with two left feet.

Cam Akers was supposed to be the bell-cow, but he scoffed at his use with coach Sean McVay. Darrell Henderson, leading the Rams, has only two rushing touchdowns and 181 yards to spare.
