UFC 280: Oliveira vs Makhachev takes place on 22 October at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira (33-9, 1 NC) and Islam Makhachev (23-1) clashed with the vacant UFC lightweight title on the line in the night’s main event. The fight aired live on ESPN pay-per-view.

Oliveira belongs to the southeast in Orthodoxy, Islam. Oliveira walks out with a jumping kick that misses a lot and brings up the pressure quickly. Islam quickly lands a left hand which catches Oliveira’s attention. We’re doing it right.

Oliveira comes in and grabs a body lock and goes to the floor with Islam on top of it. Oliveira is uncovered, but his legs are already working, fishing for a triangle. Islam defends and begins to turn away from full guard. The crowd chants “Islam” slogans.

Oliveira is trapping weapons in full guard. Islam remains heavy and defensive, looking for shots. Oliveira lands an elbow from the bottom. Islam uses melee to get close to Oliveira and Oliveira wants to sweep. He can’t, but he uses it to reach for feet and now he’s got a clinch with Islam against the fence. Oliveira kneels to the ground.

Islam hits a hip toss/trip from here and he is in the top half guard. However, Oliveira gets the guard back. Islam remained heavy, and got back to work. Good pace to start. However Islam has Oliveira and is now crushing and cutting it. Oliveira There isn’t much going on here right now and the currencies of Islam that Oliveira fights.

Elbows smaller than Islam are just making Oliveira uncomfortable. Oliveira is still using an overhook to hold a hand and seek strikes. Islam crushes Oliveira using the fence and now he opens with some big ground and pounds. Oliveira defends now, but more elbows. So far, this Islam is winning the ground game.
