He played college football for the Oregon Ducks, where he won the 2019 Pac-12 Championship and was named the MVP of the 2020 Rose Bowl. He was selected sixth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Chargers.

Justin Herbert has an opportunity to be the next quarterback who proved teams and skeptical analysts wrong. Herbert also has a chance to show those teams and negative people were right. A four-year starter at Oregon, Herbert is expected to be one of the top three quarterbacks selected in the NFL Draft later this month.
Several teams, including the Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins, have been linked with Justin Herbert in the pre-draft process. Although Herbert has earned rave reviews for his hand and body, he has also drawn criticism and concerns for his personality and accuracy.
Those flaws and weaknesses will be what make Herbert the NFL’s next draft bust rather than its next perennial All-Pro.

Justin Herbert was born in Eugene, Oregon. He attended Sheldon High School, where he initially found a love for several sports and played football, basketball, and baseball. His junior year of high school was very important for his football career.
Then at some point he influenced Chris Miller, another Eugene native, and would later play football at Sheldon High School, similar to Miller.
If Miller was excited about seeing Herbert become a varsity QB at Sheldon, I think everyone in Eugene was as well, including head football coach Len Johnson. I really wish this was a situation where Len Johnson was playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and coaching in Eugene at the same time, but they’re different Oregon guys. Herbert waited through his freshman and sophomore seasons for this to happen, but then left for an extraordinary season as a junior in 2014.
In the first three games, Herbert was 48-in-75 for 688 yards, 10 touchdowns, no interceptions, and 161 rushing yards. Unfortunately things came to a complete halt when he broke his leg and was out for the rest of the season.
