Peyton Manning said she believes her Tennessee volume has something she’s desperately needed for 15 years: some evidence from Alabama.

Former Tennessee quarterback Manning said Hendon Hooker is the remedy for the 15-year loss of Volume to Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.

He wasn’t alone on Saturday when he appeared as a guest selector on ESPN’s “College Gameday,” when he was predicting a game between No. 3 Alabama and No. 6 Tennessee.

“If Bryce Young is 100 percent, I’m going easy in Alabama,” Desmond Howard said. “He’s going to play, but we don’t know how effective he’ll be. The thing that’s going to affect him is bowling long balls and out numbers. For that reason alone, I’m going with Tennessee.”

David Pollack pointed to differences in Alabama’s defense.

“I don’t think they’re ready for the pressure yet,” the former Georgia standout said of Vol. “Hendon Hooker becomes human in one aspect: when he gets the pressure. (Chris) Braswell, (Dallas) Turner, (Will) Anderson. Those boys can be under some pressure and that’s why I think the Alabama match will win.”

McAfee, who was Peyton Manning’s teammate with the Indianapolis Colts, said his former quarterback made him a believer. “Give me a million to Tennessee,” he said after leading fans to a rendition of “Rocky Top.”

Meanwhile, Kirk Herbstreit was a little more philosophical about it.

“Tennessee scores 47 a game,” he said. “Ever since Peyton and T. Martin were here, there’s never been more confidence and enthusiasm at Rocky Top. It’s been a long drought. They’re as hungry as they ever were. Probably the most underrated home field advantage – Not only in the SEC – but in the country, and it’s great to see them back.

Did beat alabama

In one of the best games of the entire college football season, No. 6 Tennessee defeated No. 3 Alabama 52–49 in a shootout. Walls ended a 15-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide Peyton Manning, and former Tennessee players from several different games enjoyed the victory on social media.

Tennessee and Alabama jolted in a back-and-forth game, in which Heisman Trophy contenders Hendon Hooker and Bryce Young exchanged big plays. Ultimately, the Volunteers won when time ran out on a 40-yard field goal by Chase McGrath.

That kick gave Tennessee its biggest win in decades, and social media celebrated the victory with pre-vol. On top of that, the Knoxville native and national media praised Tennessee for projecting itself as a legitimate national championship threat. Even former Alabama players weighed in on their thoughts on the top-10 rivalry fight.

The University of Tennessee will officially retire former Wall Peyton Manning’s football jersey before volunteers host the University of South Carolina Gamecock in Knoxville this Saturday, October 29.

Kickoff for the game is at 7:45 pm. ET.

Manning, who is currently the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts NFL team, wore the number 16 on his jersey during his years with the Walls.

The number would be removed in a mid-field ceremony approximately 30 minutes before kickoff.

The matchup also marks the first visit to Neyland Stadium by former Florida coach Steve Spurrier who leads the South Carolina team.

UT Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Jeff Maples said standard safety measures would be in place for Saturday’s game.

“We are asking fans to arrive early and not to bring prohibited items inside Neyland Stadium,” he said.
