Fight
The Buffalo Bills are blowing up the Pittsburgh Steelers in Kenny Pickett’s first NFL debut, yet the fireworks show was not over, even though the result had already been determined. Piquet, who changed the rules of college football last year thanks to his fake slide in Pittsburgh, was hit in the helm by Bills defensive back Dahmer Hamlin, who went on to play in the third quarter of 31-3 with 1:09. Was trying the actual slide.
Needless to say, the Steelers retaliated. James Daniels came to the rescue of his rookie quarterback as he knocked Wilson to the ground after a helmet-to-helmet hit. Several Bills players pushed Daniels over his edge as Daniels tried to get out of the scandal.
A penalty was called, but it was unnecessary roughness on Daniels. Kevin Dotson also received an unnecessary roughness penalty – but was denied. No fine was imposed on Hamlin.
Hit
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was on the receiving end of a dirty hit or two from the Buffalo Bills, and he didn’t hesitate to stand up for himself. In a video tweeted by Ari Mirov, Shaq Lawson was shown hitting Piquet below the knee after getting rid of the ball.
Fights are fairly common in the NFL, considering how much of a contact sport football is. However, there are some dramas that shouldn’t happen, and this was one of them. Pickett spoke up on the incident, and believes his actions were justified.
At a press conference, Pickett was asked about his reaction and defended it. He said, “I’ll have to watch it again, but in my opinion, I felt like he went behind my knee after my knee. That’s it. Tapan flares up. I don’t care, I’m playing the last game of the game.” Will continue to play till then, and that was it. So, all is well with me.”
Sure, having a fight on the field isn’t always favorable, but it was certainly appropriate. From the footage, Lawson clearly went for Pickett when the ball went out of his hand and Pickett didn’t react with enough force to hurt him.
Grandfather
When Salem first met Pickett, he stood around 5 foot-9. Salem was the first to see this, but it was also the subject of controversy in the Pickett household. Pickett’s father stands at 6 foot-1. Her grandfather stands at 6-foot-3 on her mother’s side and her grandfather’s brother is 6-foot-3. genes were present. It took just the summer between her sophomore and junior years for Pickett to accelerate to six inches of growth.
But it wasn’t just Pickett moving into his frame that attracted attention. He excelled in the camp scene, his performance as a junior garnered the attention of not only Salem but coaching staff across the country, and Salem eventually had to make his way to Ocean Township High.
Salem made the trek back to Ocean Township in the spring before Pickett’s senior season, and when he saw Pickett again, he was looking a very, very tall quarterback, this time. “What happened?” Salem thought to himself at the time, seeing a new side of the bigger, stronger picket.
