West Tigers have confirmed that international forward Luciano Liluah will leave the club after next season to join North Queensland.

Liluah is understood to be negotiating a new contract with the club after next season, but has decided to move his future to Townsville, accepting a three-year deal with the Cowboys.

A report in The Daily Telegraph claimed that Liluah would move to Townsville seeking immediate release, however, the Tigers expect the Samoan star to see the final year of his contract next season.

“West’s Tigers forward Luciano Leilua has confirmed to the club that he will be departing at the end of the 2022 season to sign a long-term deal with another NRL club,” a Tigers statement said.

“Luciano Liluah thinks he has scored, but without a referee the referee believes the ball was at least hit the dead ball line,” Fox League commentator Warren Smith said.

Expert analyst Steve Roach said: “Well, they have to see it, right?”
Roach suggested that Liluah may have knocked the ball in her attempt to land it, but as the slow replay was shown, Smith said “Did she? I don’t know. Watching it live it was too close.” Seen from and definitely had to be seen.”

A few minutes later the replay was shown again and Smith was even more convinced that it could have been a try and should have at least been sent to the bunker to be decided.

“It’s from here on out, hand on the ball… from that angle I’m saying four points,” he said.

“Given how often we refer to things in the bunker … it’s amazing not being seen.”

Contract

In November, Liluah signed a three-year, $2.2 million deal with the Cowboys, which was set to begin in 2023, but the second-rover joined the club mid-season after being released early from the Tigers contract. .

“I really had no intention of coming (early),” said Liluah.

“The club told me I was no longer needed and the Cowboys wanted me to come here, so it all worked out.”

But the Tigers told the AAP that Liluah had asked for release on “several” occasions and vehemently denied that she had been thrown out the door.

The Tigers eventually acceded to Liluah’s request earlier this month, but the 26-year-old opted to travel to North Queensland and miss his chance to play for Samoa in the rep round to get used to.

Net Worth

As of 2021, Luciano Lilua has a net worth of $10 million. He makes his living by becoming a professional football player for the NFL.
