Scott coached the Kangaroos 211 times between 2010 and 2019 and holds a 50.24 percent win record with 106 wins and 105 losses.

He led North Melbourne to the preliminary final in 2014 and 2015.

Barham wrote in a letter to club members announcing Scott’s appointment, “Throughout the process, it was clear that the club needed a strong leader and Brad’s track record as a player, coach and administrator. demonstrated it.”

“Brad has an incredible resume, a wide variety of roles and is the experience the club needs.

“We believe that Brad has all the qualities to be the long-term coach of Essendon Football Club. He is a strong leader who will set standards and establish a winning culture.”

Scott is widely respected in the AFL, and is likely to be warmly received by Bombers fans.

But there is one notable person who can offer some reassurance about the new role for his twin brother – the former Kangaroos coach.

Dual Geelong Premiership mentor Chris Scott said the stressful nature of coaching meant the role came at a cost.

Scott and wife Penny welcomed their first child—Fletcher Charles Scott—to the world at 11 a.m. Tuesday. A spokesperson for the kangaroos said both the mother and the baby were healthy.

It’s a big week for the Scott family, with Brad facing Geelong coach and identical twin brother Chris in Friday night’s semifinals at the MCG.

This would be just the second instance of brothers coaching against each other in the final. In 1960, Norm Smith’s Melbourne defeated Lane Smith’s Fitzroy in the second semi-final.

Why did leave north melbourne

“This game is a great game, but as a senior coach, having been coaching for 10 years and making a strategic shift, I felt the time was right for the club to get the fresh air it needed.

“So to do that, and for the philosophy of putting the club first, I offered to step aside.”

‘Nothing but blue skies for North Melbourne’
Scott took over the reigns in North Melbourne in 2010, leading the team in 211 games, including four final berths.

But the two-time Premiership winner with Brisbane first wanted to speak with all of his players – whom he referred to as “her boys”.

Scott told his players, “I’ve always defended you guys and it’s because of the quality of character that you all guys are.”

“I really hope that I have, in some small way, helped shape the people you are and what you are going to be, because you guys have definitely shaped who I am. Me You love coaching.”
