Dallas Cowboys and first-round pick Micah Parsons are officially a thing. 10 pick in a rare division barter with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas picked up the Penn State linebacker at No. 12.

Known by many as the top defensive talent in the draft, Parsons and the Cowboys saw two cornerbacks snatch No. 8 and No. 9 from the board as Jesse Horn and Patrick Sureten II went to Carolina and Denver, respectively. While the linebacker is not seen as a key position or requirement for the club, they were all very excited to return, securing an additional third-round selection from the Eagles and still going with Parsons. Now, as the mandatory minicamp winds down and Parsons continues to impress with their versatility, they are off on paper. Both sides have put their John Hancock on the terms of the contract.

Everyone in the world thinks that Cowboys LB Micah Parsons is an incredible athlete and one of the best players in the world. The media thinks so; He was the NFC Defensive Player of the Year as voted by 101 national media members and came in second place in the Defensive Player of the Year organized by the Associated Press. His teammates, it seems, were rated as the top linebacker and number 16 (admittedly flawed) overall in the NFL Top 100. Everyone thinks so except EA Sports and Madden’s ratings Caesar.

Parsons is going through some rookie thinking that the only licensed NFL video game, and therefore the most popular by default, is given only an 88 out of 99 overall rating. On Tuesday, Parsons put out a petition for fans and game players. Contact EA Sports to file a petition for a serious improvement in your rating. A surprising figure stepped up to the plate, and then some. Not only did former Eagles D Chris Long make the call, he filmed it (live on his podcast, of course) and gave it to him for underestimating Parsons’ potential.

The team lost some key players, but they are going into 2022 with some significant consistency. How good is the 2022 roster? According to the annual NFL Top 100 list as voted on by players, the Cowboys have six people among the cream of the crop. CeeDee Lamb, Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs, and Micah Parsons were all there.

It’s certainly nice to receive praise from your teammates, but what do NFL analysts and experts think? Pro Football Focus recently released the list of 50 best players in the league. The PFF grades players for much more than just regular stats. They collect data points to give players an overall grade.
