He fought for the UFC in the Middleweight division, finishing 13th until his release, and winning The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia.
In January 2020, he became the first professional athlete in North America to be granted a cannabis therapeutic use exemption.

Theodorou spent most of his childhood playing baseball or skateboarding.
He wasn’t hooked on the sport of MMA until he saw the TUF 1 Finale: Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar fight.
Griffin and Bonnar captivated him, as they did millions of other viewers.
Theodorou won The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia and was a former ECC and NAAF Series champion.
He was one of four unbeaten prospects on Team Canada, which was coached by Patrick Cote.
Patrick Cote chose Theodorou to face Zein Saliba in the second episode of TUF Nations.
Theodorou easily defeated Saliba in a unanimous decision.

Theodorou, who is of Greek descent, was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, and attended Meadowvale Secondary School.
He attended Humber College to pursue a B.A. in Creative Advertising, but after his first year, Theodorou chose to take MMA classes as a workout before deciding to pursue MMA as a career.[6] On February 19, 2020, Theodorou became the first MMA fighter and professional athlete in history to receive a sanctioned exemption for medical cannabis (TUE) in sport from a governing body via the British Columbia Athletic Commission.

Elias Theodorou, a professional mixed martial arts fighter best known for his advocacy on behalf of cannabis-using athletes, died of cancer on Monday, according to his family.
He was 34.
In a statement, his family said, “Elias ‘The Spartan’ Theodorou answered his final bell yesterday, September 11th, 2022.”
“He died peacefully at home with his family and loved ones by his side after a long battle with metastasized colon cancer.”
The “affable Toronto native” led a career and a life to be proud of, according to MMA promoter UFC on Monday.
“In his 34 years, Elias Theodorou made an impact that will not be forgotten,” the UFC said.
Theodorou left the UFC in 2019 with a 16-3 overall record and an 8-3 record in the sport’s top division.
