If you thought the UFC 279 press conference was bad, wait until you see what happened at the early (and official) weigh-ins.

Khamzat Chimaev failed to make weight for his Nate Diaz pay-per-view (PPV) main event, scheduled for this Saturday night (September 10, 2022) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, possibly because he was too busy gloating over his “Trailblazer” squabble on Thursday afternoon.

Khamzat Holds Till Accountable for UFC 279 Scale Failure

Chimaev, 28, was contracted to weigh 170 pounds but was allowed to weigh in as high as 171 pounds due to the extra pound allowed in non-title fights.
Unfortunately, “Borz” didn’t even come close, weighing in at 178.5 pounds.
Not surprisingly, he is still scheduled to fight this weekend.

The UFC 279 pre-fight press conference was canceled mid-session Thursday due to a “big (expletive) show” backstage, company president Dana White said. White explained to a booing crowd before he walked off stage that the decision was “for everybody’s safety, this is the right decision.” Initially, there was a lengthy delay – not an irregular practice when stars like Nate Diaz are involved. However, UFC staff also shuffled the name tags about, as Diaz, Khamzat Chimaev, Tony Ferguson, Li Jingliang, Kevin Holland, and Daniel Rodriguez were scheduled to appear. The latter two were the only ones to appear, however. They took the stage with White, who announced to the crowd that initially fighters would be brought out in pairs. Holland and Rodriguez fielded a few questions and were squared off, after Holland, like White, declined to give significant comment on what went down.

The UFC 279 pre-fight press conference was cancelled in the middle of the session Thursday due to “big (expletive) show” backstage, according to company president Dana White.

Before walking off stage, White told the booing audience that the decision was made “for everybody’s safety.”

There was lengthy delay at first, which is not uncommon when celebrities like Nate Diaz are involved.
However, because Diaz, Khamzat Chimaev, Tony Ferguson, Li Jingliang, Kevin Holland, and Daniel Rodriguez were scheduled to fight, the UFC staff shuffled the name tags as well.

The latter two, however, were the only ones to appear.
They took the stage with White, who informed the audience that fighters would be introduced in pairs at first.
Holland and Rodriguez took questions.
