Originally from Firebaugh, California, Allen dreamed of moving to Fresno State from high school, but he got zero Division I offers of any kind, whether they were FBS or FCS.
So, Allen enrolled at a JUCO Ridley College near Fresno, where he played 10 games and debuted as a freshman in six. All told, when his time at Ridley came to a close he had completed 49 percent of his passes but accumulated just five picks to go with 2,055 yards, 26 touchdowns and 660 yards through the air and 10 touchdowns on the ground .
