Injury
Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of England’s third Test against South Africa and the T20 World Cup after he suffered a “freak” injury while playing golf.
The ECB said in a statement that Bairstow had suffered a “lower limb injury”, which was understood to be in his left leg, and that he would see a specialist next week to “determine the full extent”.
ESPNcricinfo is aware that Bairstow suffered an injury while walking on a tee box while playing golf at the Pannal Golf Club near Harrogate on Friday morning. The injury is believed to be serious and could lead to a fracture, which will rule Bairstow out of England’s Test tour of Pakistan in December.
“Unfortunately I will be unavailable for the [sic] Games/Tour in the near future,” Bairstow wrote in a post on her Instagram story. “The reason for this is that I injured my lower leg in a strange accident and would need an operation.
Centuries
YJB Bairstow Test Average in 2022: Jonny Bairstow continued his good form with the bat and scored a century against West Indies.
After a disappointing performance in the Ashes, England made their Test series debut against the West Indies. Nevertheless, the English side’s top-order failed, and they lost their opening four wickets for 48 runs. It looked like another downfall for England but Jonny Bairstow again proved his class with the bat.
Jonny Bairstow played an unbeaten knock of 109 with the help of 17 fours in 2016 and stabilized England’s innings. The partnership of Bairstow and Ben Foakes allowed England to return to the game.
This is not the first time Jonny Bairstow has saved an English team from a collapse. He did the same in the Ashes 2021-22 against Australia in the Sydney Test. He scored 113 runs against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Net Worth
Jonny Bairstow has a net worth of around US$8 million (approximately INR 59 Crore).
Dad
Jonny Bairstow father’s name is David Bairstow. The Ashes is a month and a half away. Australia hopes to regain the urn the same way it did in 2013-14. England are expected to repeat their 2010-11 exploits. The controversy surrounding Ben Stokes (and Alex Hales) has had an impact on the preparation of the audience. There are more big names in Joe Root’s team. Part of England’s batting fortunes now revolve around Root’s fellow Yorkshireman Jonny Bairstow, who is perhaps the best England cricketer has had in the past two seasons.
The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has now co-authored a book, A Clear Blue Sky. The book tells a lot about Johnny’s short life and also explains why his father, the famous former cricketer David Bairstow, committed suicide.
