James Richard Garopolo (born November 2, 1991), nicknamed Jimmy Gee, is an American football quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Eastern Illinois, where he won the Walter Peyton Award as a senior and set school records for career passing yards and passing touchdowns. Garoppolo was selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and spent his first four seasons as a backup to Tom Brady.
