Fernando Gabriel Tatis Medina Jr. (born January 2, 1999), nicknamed “El Nio” or “Bebo”, is a Dominican professional baseball shortstop and outfielder who plays for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is the son of former MLB player Fernando Tatis Sr. Tatis Jr., who stands at 6 feet 3 inches (191 cm) tall and weighs 217 pounds (98 kg). He made his MLB debut in 2019, won the Silver Slugger Award in 2020, and was named an All-Star in 2021.

Motorcycle accident
The Padres announced Tuesday that star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. suffered a fractured wrist during the off-season and could take up to three months to recover.
General Manager AJ Preller disclosed the news during the press conference but did not confirm how the injury occurred. However, he pointed to the alleged motorcycle accident that 23-year-old Tatis was involved in in December in the Dominican Republic.
According to Kevin Aisi of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Tatis suffered “minor scratches” in the accident. However, speaking to the media on Tuesday, the Padres shortstop admitted that he had one of several minor accidents during the off-season.

Many San Diego Padres fans were shocked when the team awarded Robinson Canoe a contract earlier this season.
Released by the New York Mets, the once-major slugger was in sharp decline following two suspensions for performance-enhancing substances, the second of which spanned the entire 2021 season. As he hit under .200 with the Mets, it was surprising to see the Padres pick up the canoe.
Unless you know about her and Fernando Tatis Jr.’s relationship, anyway.
Speaking to MLB insider Robert Murray, Tatis called Canoe his “godfather”:
“As a kid, I saw a lot of people. I think those guys have small parts in my game. Derek Jeter. Jose Reyes. Hanley Ramirez. A rod. Those guys were the main ones growing up. I played baseball. Haven’t talked to those guys much, but a guy I call my “godfather” in baseball is Robinson Canoe. That’s the mind I’ve picked up on most. He talks about hitting, about baseball. Knows a lot about how to slow down the game. It’s a big deal to get a chance to learn from someone like that.”

Fernando Tatis Jr.’s mother is lovely Maria Tatis, who was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. Like “El Nio,” baseball is a big part of his life. She and Tatis Sr. married in 1998 and reportedly have four children together, including sons Fernando Jr., Eliza and Daniel, and daughter Maria Fernanda.
