Where did go
On October 31, 2017, the Patriots traded Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for the 49ers’ second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Starter C.J. He made his 49ers debut in Week 12 in the last minute of a 49ers game against the Seattle Seahawks after Beathard was injured; It was his first snap of 2017 as he did not take the field with the Patriots in 2017. In his first game as a 49er, he ran for six yards; In the final game of the game, he threw a 10-yard touchdown to Louis Murphy. He completed the loss 24–13, completing both pass attempts for 18 yards and a touchdown.
Contract
The 49ers close out Garoppolo with $48.7 million guaranteed to sign a five-year deal worth $137.5 million. Of that, $74.1 million was guaranteed for the injury. In both April 1, 2019 and 2020, the salary for those years became guaranteed.
The contract included a signing bonus of $7 million, with $28 million in a guaranteed roster bonus in 2018. Additionally, the contract contained $600,000 per year in workout bonuses and $800,000 in roster bonuses per game. Garoppolo’s salary cap hit was $37 million in 2018, up from $20 million to $27 million between 2019 and 2022.
Super bowl rings
Don’t forget, Jimmy Garoppolo is a two-time Super Bowl champion. Although Garoppolo and the 49ers fell short in Super Bowl LIV against the Kansas City Chiefs, the current San Francisco quarterback won two titles with the New England Patriots as Tom Brady’s backup.
This raises the question, where does Garoppolo keep his two rings? They seem to be safe and sound in their hometowns.
“Rings, they’re back in Chicago,” Garopolo told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Mycco in the latest episode of the “49ers Talk” podcast. “I brought them back there in a little safe. I can’t remember the last time I wore them to be honest with you.”
Garoppolo admitted he had some awkward conversations with coach Kyle Shanahan about those Super Bowl rings driving back Tevin Coleman and cornerback Richard Sherman. Why so? Coleman was a part of the Atlanta Falcons team that led the Patriots of Garoppolo late in Super Bowl LI, Shanahan’s last season as the Falcons’ offensive coordinator. And Sherman was a vital part of the Seattle Seahawks team that lost to the Patriots in heartbreaking fashion in Super Bowl XLIX.
