Kyler Cole Murray (born August 7, 1997) is an American football quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). After a stint with the Texas AMs, Murray played college football in Oklahoma, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a junior. Murray was selected first overall by the Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was selected ninth overall by Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Oakland Athletics in the 2018 draft, making him the first player to be drafted in the first round of both games.

College Championship
As a true freshman in 2015, Murray competed with Kyle Allen prior to the season for the starting quarterback position. Allen won the job, with Murray appearing in games as a backup (mainly on plays involving the Wildcat formation). After the team lost two straight games in October, the competition reopened before the South Carolina game, and Murray won the starting quarterback spot. On his debut, Murray threw for 223 yards and ran for 156 yards with a passing touchdown and a speedy touchdown, making him and Cam Newton the only Southeastern Conference quarterbacks in the past 20 years to hit 100 yards. For passing and running over, including one touchdown early in his career and passing a rapid touchdown. On his second start of the next game against Auburn, Murray threw for 105 yards, throwing three interceptions, and ran for 37 yards in a 26–10 loss. He returned from his previous game against West Carolina the following week, throwing 191 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions while rushing 50 yards in a 41-17 blowout win. After the game, Allen was named the starting quarterback and Murray was sidelined for the rest of the season.

Kyler Murray enrolled in Texas AM, where he appeared in eight games as a true freshman in 2015, before relocating to Oklahoma after the season. He sat out the 2016 season according to transfer rules at the time, then backed Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield in 2017, before winning his next season’s Heisman.
