Contract prediction
Prior to the campaign, the Yankees offered Judge a reasonable extension for (at the time!) $30.5 million annually, as well as $17 million for 2022, his final year of arbitration. Essentially, eight years and $230.5 million.

Contract offer
The New York Yankees have signed outfielder Aaron Judge to a one-year, $19 million contract for the 2022 season, a source confirmed to The Athletic on Friday.
This means that both parties will avoid arbitration hearings. According to multiple reports, the Yankees offered Judge $17 million for the 2022 season, and Judge countered with a $21 million request before the March deadline for the exchange of figures.
Judge, who turned 30 in April, finished fourth in AL MVP voting in 2021 and won the Silver Slugger Award by scoring 39 home runs along the .287/.373/.544 line. He had an OPS of at least 143 in each of the last five seasons.
The three-time All-Star’s best season was his rookie year, when he led the league with 52 homers and 128 runs. He is set to become a free agent after the 2022 season.
Contract turned down
“We’re not going to talk about it any further,” Cashman said. “Does that mean we’re not going to talk, I’m not saying that, but we’re not going to talk about it (publicly). But he’s been great. But it’s no surprise No, because he is great.”
Judge, 30, is reducing .290/.356/.626 and he leads MLB with 10 homers through 28 games. He hit his first career walk-off home run in the Yankees’ win against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
The slugger turned down a $230.5 million extension offer for the next eight seasons, hours before the team’s 2022 season opener. New York’s offer was $17 million for the 2022 season and $30.5 million per season for the next seven years.
