Lucha Underground
Prior to joining NJPW, Cobb wrestled in Lucha Underground (as masked wrestler Matanza Cueto), Ring of Honor (ROH) and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). He is a former PWG World Champion and winner of PWG’s 2018 Battle of Los Angeles tournament and a one-time World Tag Team Champion along with Matt Riddle. He is also the former ever Openweight Champion in NJPW and the former ROH Television Champion in ROH.
As an amateur wrestler, Cobb represented Guam at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he became the nation’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony and competed in the men’s light heavyweight freestyle category. He transitioned to professional wrestling in 2009.

Cobb’s training with the Guam Amateur Wrestling Federation helped him qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympics. Cobb represented Guam as a member of the men’s national team and even had the honor of being Guam’s flag bearer during the opening ceremony in Athens. The men’s light heavyweight freestyle event saw Cobb work despite not finishing with a medal.
