According to a news release from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, two vehicles were involved in the accident. Preliminary investigation found that a white vehicle was coming at high speed and hit another vehicle from behind.

The white vehicle lost control and hit a freeway pier beam, killing the man and woman inside, the release said. The second vehicle was also occupied by a man and woman, who were not injured.

Cause of death

What makes this passing sting particularly poignant is that Jeff Gladney was turning his life around before his untimely death. According to AZCardinals.com reporter Darren Urban, the former TCU first-round pick out made a positive impression after his brief stint with the Cardinals with an upbeat personality. He was seen as a key contributor on defense in 2022 along with Marco Wilson and Byron Murphy.

Gladney was previously charged with domestic violence and missed the entire 2021 season. DB was found not guilty in a subsequent trial. Last March, Gladney signed with the Arizona Cardinals, looking for a second act in the NFL.

His alma mater, TCU and its faculty shared their thoughts on his passing. Eddie Jeremiah Donati described a man who was a horned frog well beyond his graduation from TCU:

“Our TCU Athletics family, and our football program in particular, was devastated to learn of the passing of Jeff Gladney. After earning his degree and continuing his playing career in the NFL, Jeff joined TCU. Maintain your close relationship with us.”
As Donati recalled, Gladney proudly showed up on campus. It’s a loss that will surely take a toll on the Dallas community
