It was a rough night for Warriors biggie Drummond Green as they lost to the Celtics in Wednesday’s 116-100 Game 3.
After being out of the game with only two points in 35 minutes, Green was asked whether he was “conscious” about what he says on his podcast and the possibility that he’s giving the Celtics intel on the Warriors gameplan.
Fischer exclusively explained how Greene discussed covering Derrick White, Marcus Smart and Al Horford separately between the first two games of the NBA Finals on his podcast Monday.
That’s when Green accused the reporter of “reaching out” and started laughing.
“Oh, it’s just shots fought. If that’s X and O then… you’re reaching for something,” Green said. “Although that’s all good. Drive up. Heavy reaching. When you find they’re taking the X and O away from your podcast. The only thing you said was White, Smart and Horford, hmm. You’re on it. Were taken. Respect. Appreciate the podcast promo you gave me. ‘The Drummond Green Show’, just mention it like that next time.”
Green, whose younger son sat next to him at the press conference, had already expressed his disappointment with his game in Game 3 – saying he played “like s-t” and was “soft”.
Green was fouled with four minutes remaining. He finished with two points, three assists, four rebounds, one block and two turnovers. The Warriors were outsourced by 13 points when Green was on the floor.
Post game interview
Stephen Curry scored 29 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 107-88 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals. Curry scored 21 of 9 field goals and hit five three-pointers and did not even play in the fourth quarter. After the game Drummond Green explained that the Warriors’ offense begins with Curry and worked in the process in a commentary about former teammate Kevin Durant.
“Our crime is always Steph’s. It all starts with Steph. When KD was here, our crime started with Steph too. It’s gonna be like this.”
Just completely unsuccessful and not surprising at all. Green went back and forth with Durant on Twitter last week, where he debated who was more in the double-team between Durant and Curry, when the former was on the Warriors for two of his three title runs.
