Dustin Hunter Johnson (born June 22, 1984) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He has won two major championships, the 2016 US Open at Oakmont Country Club with a 4-under-par score of 276 and the 2020 Masters Tournament with a record score of 268, 20-under-par. He had previously finished second at both the 2011 Open Championship and the 2015 US Open. He has six World Golf Championship victories, only Tiger Woods has won more, and he is the first player to win each of the four World Golf Championship events.

Dustin Johnson is a supreme athlete whose long hits and precise wedge game have allowed him to become a two-time Majors Champion. He is one of only four players to start his career with a streak of 13 consecutive seasons, the others being Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods. Dustin won the 2020 Masters tournament in scintillating style, eroding the scoring record and ending the year with a string of scintillating performances with which he lifted the FedEx Cup. Dustin has played on four Ryder Cup teams and four Presidents Cup teams. Dustin’s charitable work includes the Dustin Johnson Foundation, which provides opportunities for young people in Myrtle Beach to learn, play and struggle, ultimately giving them a competitive edge on and off the course. Swing
As for Johnson’s backswing, Leadbetter says he has good extension and width, but his rotation is key here.
“Watch this rotation with his upper body. Huge, huge twirls and stretches from those outstretched hands,” Leadbetter says. “He’s like a coil, getting ready to free.”
Similar to many average golfers, Leadbetter points out that Johnson has a closed clubface at the top of his swing. “Look at the clubface between his elbows. I mean the clubface is pointing up at the sky,” Leadbetter says.
However, unlike most golfers, Johnson’s incredible speed and power comes from his next move. “This change of direction is really what separates men from boys as far as strength is concerned. We can see a big wind, but when that changes direction the upper body lags behind,” says Leadbetter Huh. “It almost creates a huge difference between a shoulder flexion and a hip flexion because he changes direction here.
“It’s interesting how he actually clears and opens,” Leadbetter continues. “One way to keep that face so square through the ball is that he really maintains the angle of his spine, much like an iron shot.”

Former world No 1 Dustin Johnson and past major champion Sergio Garcia were listed on Tuesday among competitors for the opening of the LIV Golf Invitational Series in a field released by the Saudi-backed league that did not include Phil Mickelson.
While six-time major champion Mickelson was not currently on the ground list, he could still play at the Centurion Club outside London between 9 and 11 June as six places remain open in the 48-player event.

Other notables include former world No 1s Lee Westwood and Martin Kemmer, as well as European Ryder Cup veterans Ian Poulter, Louis Osthuizen, Brandon Grace, Sergio Garcia and Kevin Na. LIV Golf said the final six players would be announced later.
World number 13 Johnson, a two-time major champion, is the highest-ranked player in a field that currently includes 26 of the world’s top 150 golfers.

LIV golf poses a bigger threat to the PGA Tour as it tries to lure in top players with big payouts. The field for the opening ceremony of the LIV Golf Invitational Series shows that it could pull off at least some of the big names.
The company on Tuesday released the list of players who will take part in the tournament to be held at the Centurion Club in London from June 9-11. The world number 13 player Dustin Johnson was at the top of the list.
Not on the list? Phil Mickelson, whose early endorsements and controversial comments about the Saudi Arabia-based league prompted him to take an extended absence from golf.
