Two residents of Springville were found on Wednesday with gunshot wounds to their heads.

The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Masao Kanga and 17-year-old Lily Conroy. Both were alive when law enforcement found them, but according to Springville Lieutenant Warren Foster, Kanga died on the spot. Conroy was taken to Utah Valley Hospital where he is currently on life support. Foster said he is not expected to survive.

The two were found by local law enforcement at Hobble Creek Park. According to Foster, the determination was not officially made until Thursday morning, considered a murder-suicide. The investigation is still ongoing, however, with Foster calling it “apparent murder/suicide” in a release late Thursday.

Police were on the lookout for the pair when they received a request for welfare check on the woman at around 3 pm.

Who is

Lieutenant Warren Foster said Kanga had previously threatened to harm Conroy, but the circumstances under which the shooting took place are under investigation.

According to Springville Police, Conroy remains on a life support system to preserve his organs for donation.

“The family wants to carry on their daughter’s legacy to help someone in need. The family wants Lily to survive by donating her organs to a local family. If there is a family in the local area that needs organ donation, Contact the Springville Police Department (801.489.9421),” Lt. Foster wrote in a statement.

The Nebo School District said bereavement counselors are available for students at Springville High School, where Conroy attended.

Identity

The Dubliners by James Joyce is a famous collection of short stories, which introduces its readers to the lives of the Irish middle class people in the early twentieth century. In particular, the final of these short stories titled The Dead, the longest together, received a reception. It is “the story of Gabriel Conroy who attends the Christmas dinner party of his aunt, Morken, with his wife Greta” (Brenigan 56, 57). Here, in contrast to some nationalist perspectives, they are confronted with their pro-British existence. In the end, he learns that his wife once fell in love with a boy in Galway who died, and that their relationship is not, and never was, as passionate as she would like. In general it can be said that “Joyce presents the people with both nationalism and love” (Manganiello 94).

Age

Police of Springville police station area said that they were also stunned to hear the news of the death of a teenager on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities made the announcement about a teenage girl named Lily Conroy, who was 17 years old.
