Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said the Boston Bruins were handed a goal by officials when their goalkeeper interference challenge failed to reverse a second-period tally from forward Jake Debrusk.
“They’re just a team to score goals. We don’t have a chance,” Brind’Amour said after Sunday’s Game 4 at TD Garden in Boston. 2.
With 1:16 left in the second period, Debrisk scored a power-play goal to tie the game at 2. Forward Brad Marchand backhanded the puck to Carolina goalkeeper Antti Ranta, who tried unsuccessfully to cover it. A scuffle ensued over the net, and Debreux finally tapped the puck on the goal line.
Replays showed that before scoring the goal, Ranta’s left pad was shaken by a stick, causing him to lose his balance. It was not clear whether it was Debrisk’s stick or Carolina defenseman Brett Paes, who pushed the goalkeeper.
