Combat sports fans have often seen props including food at the ceremonial faceoff. The major fear usually faced by promotion operations staff and security is that they will be turned into weapons, which they rarely, in fact, are.

With the formal face-off of BKFC 24 on Friday, that fear became a reality. A tomato prop armed as Light Heavyweight Champion Lorenzo Hunt threw the half-eaten fruit into the grill of former UFC fighter and next title challenger Joe Riggs.

Before things could escalate, the two fighters were immediately separated. Unhappy as ever, Riggs received a verbal rebuttal and called Hunt a “c*nt”. Meanwhile, Hunt finds his stunt hilarious and stops Riggs from a different distance before playing to the small crowd in attendance.

Lisa Riggs is an American bare-knuckle fighter who is Riggs’ wife. Apart from the fact that she is known to be the wife of the fighter, little is known about her to the general public. Most people believe that the black belt holder deliberately keeps his personal life away from the media.

Sherdog

Born in Sanford, Maine and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Riggs began boxing with his father as a child. Although Riggs is right-handed, his boxing coach encouraged him to fight Southeast, making his power hand his left hand.[2] Riggs began wrestling at Cactus High School in Glendale, Arizona. He followed in the footsteps of his protégé, Randy Couture, becoming a two-time All-American at Glendale Community College (Arizona), where he studied to obtain a degree in criminal justice. Riggs has trained at Arizona Combat Sports at the Lally Brothers, the MMA Lab under John Crouch, and the TNT Training Center under Scott Tannenbaum.

The last time MMA legend Joe “Diesel” Riggs fought in the ring was on October 9, 2021 in Billings. Once again, the 39-year-old will enter the ring on April 30 in the city he calls home: Great Falls.

Riggs will compete in his sixth sanctioned Bear Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), where he will have the chance to compete for the Light Heavyweight Belt as the No. 3 Bear Knuckle Boxer in the world.

He will be joined by other Great Falls-based fighters Leo Bersier and Kai Stewart as well as Browning boxer Billy Wagner.

“I was really happy to have the opportunity to get people fighting on cards like this and bringing a show of this caliber to Great Falls so they can see what a high level fight is all about,” Riggs said.

In his corner and on the bag is Great Falls native, Deante Davis, who trained and helped Riggs for the upcoming fight after a few years as Riggs’ student in his Jim Diesel Counterpunch MMA.

“I’d really love to have Dinte hold for me, he’s grown great. He has the higher IQ of Albert Einstein.”
