Injury
According to El-Bashir it will be Ilya Samsonov to start in goal for the Caps. This will be Sammy’s debut since he suffered an overtime loss to Vegas on April 20. Vitek Venacek has started both the previous games against Isles this season.

Alex Ovechkin was injured early in the third round of a 4-3 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night, crashing into the boards and ruled out an upper body injury. After that, his teammates took a two-goal lead and blew away to miss a big chance to move up the standings.
Ovechkin’s precarious position is the most dangerous the Capitals face, with the start of the playoffs just over a week away.
“I haven’t spoken to the trainer yet, so we’ll evaluate him,” said tough-spoken coach Peter Laviolette. “We’ll get an evaluation and see where that is.”
Ovechkin slipped onto the stick of Toronto goaltender Eric Kalgren after he failed to score in a scoring attempt. His left arm and shoulder made contact with the boards, and the 36-year-old remained on the ice for several seconds while the arena remained silent.
