Here’s how much Eastside softball coach Heather Wood missed Lauren Burnett last year.
When asked about the impact of losing Burnett to a shoulder injury at the start of last season, Wood began speaking enthusiastically about the benefits of Georgia’s return to Comitt. Then he had to pause for a moment to collect his thoughts and try again.
“I really can’t put into words how valuable Lauren’s return this year is to us,” Wood said. “I can’t even explain it. We’re so excited right now. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that everything goes well throughout the season. But Lauren, you know, she did what she should have done during the off-season. He rehabilitated it, he took the time off, he did all the right things to take care of himself to get ready for the season.
