Tackled by cop
The Fayetteville (Arkansas) Police Department released video Friday of Baker Mayfield’s February arrest on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, escape and resisting arrest.
Eric Bailey of Tulsa World posted the video on Twitter, which contains NSFW language:
On February 25, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reported the contents of the initial police report. Mayfield said he was “trying to end a dispute” when an officer “was flagged to take an assault and battery report.”
After being released by police, Mayfield posted a broad apology on Twitter in which he expressed regret for his actions:
Mayfield is scheduled to appear in court on April 7 stemming from a charge of public intoxication, per Trotter.
The Sooners have yet to announce any disciplinary action for the 2016 Heisman Trophy finalist as he prepares to begin his senior season in Norman, Oklahoma.
Podcast
As shared two weeks ago, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield “Ya neva no: You know what I mean?” podcast. As expected, Mayfield discussed a variety of topics during his time on the show. It’s unlikely that his appearance changed anyone’s opinion of him, but as noted in our opening excerpt, it could affect how he is viewed around the NFL:
Given the concerns following his post in Cleveland and requesting a trade when Watson had already dismissed the Browns, which Thomas called “overplaying his hand”, which, he says, would lead to fans, media and Will be scrutinized by NFL teams. It is possible that Mayfield will hear from his representatives that podcast appearances, no matter what he says, are not seen as positive around the league, but that may not affect him.
Obviously, nothing affected him. Podcasts are available wherever you normally get your podcasts as well as are posted on YouTube:
We’ve compiled some clips and social media reactions from the podcast and will continue to update with clips and thoughts as we cover Mayfield’s inevitable exit from Brown.

But 24 hours before he was first selected, the former Oklahoma Sooner single-handedly won the draft with this epic photo, which he posted on Twitter before his NFL career began:
