On Tuesday night, Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman joined Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane and did something that is likely to earn him a fine from the NHL’s Player Safety Department, but will probably be money well spent.
During a post-whistle brawl with Kane, which was broken up by the authorities, Hartman channeled his inner Stone Cold Steve Austin and gave Kane the finger.
Clearly, this is unsportsmanlike conduct. I don’t think there is any way around it. That said, I’m sure Hartman was likely to vent his frustrations on Kane in a different and more violent way the officers let him go.
What a simple gesture this is, I’m really surprised we don’t see it more often. I do get it though. NHL games are family events. These people have to be better role models than him. If Hartmann had repeatedly punched Kane in the face, everything would have been fine.

Wiki
The wrist shot is executed in the puck position with the heel-center of the blade. From that position the shooter quickly rotates his back wrist, while advancing the puck with his bottom hand. As the blade advances the puck, the wrist motion moves the puck toward the end of the blade, causing the puck to spin. The tightness of the puck’s spin has the same effect as the quarterback’s spin on their football pass, resulting in greater accuracy. The puck is aimed at the follow-through of the shot, and will generally fly completely in the direction of extension of the stick, resulting in a highly accurate shot. At the same time, the stick flexes, so the moment the puck is released from the stick, the snap of the stick will accelerate the puck forward. Current and former NHL players known for their wrist-shots, including Joe Sakik, Alexander Ovechkin, Ilya Kovalchuk, Austen Matthews, Marion Gaboric, Jeff Carter, Evgeny Malkin, Jack Eichel, Temu Selene, Alexey Kovalev, Pavel Datsuk, Phil Kessel, Wayne Gretzky. , Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Peter Forsberg, Artemi Panarin, Marcus Naslund, Nathan McKinnon and Vladimir Tarasenko.
