Injured

Well, it appears that WWE and Vince McMahon did a solid job of selling his injury.

Especially considering that the WWE “President” suffered a broken hip from an F-5 given to him by Brock Lesnar seemed plausible.

In the end, many fans, including me, bought into the angle and assumed that McMahon was actually injured by the move.

Now, it appears that this was all a job, as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestlingInc.com) reports:

Vince McMahon is going to have surgery on his left hip legally soon. Vince has had a bad hip for some time now. Brock Lesnar’s storyline Injury was cited as a reason for taking off for surgery.

It was a well played angle by all sides involved and makes total sense. This gives McMahon a chance to take some time off to recover and adds a spark to the impending Lesnar-Triple H feud. Luckily, Winnie-Mac wasn’t seriously hurt by the move, as previously mentioned, she did an amazing job selling it and proved she still had it.

That being said, I hope Triple H will be able to take this feud to the next level. Overall, I’d love to see “The Cerebral Assassin” play a stronger character than it did last summer. To me, Hunter seemed like a weak opponent from the start and never looked like he would beat Lesnar at SummerSlam.

Now that this feud has become more personal, I’d like to see some of the intensity that Triple H brought back in the late ’90s or early 2000s. The truth is, if he gives a solid, emotional promo on next week’s Raw, he’ll be able to easily sell this feud and make himself look like a strong presence.

It should be noted, I am not a Triple H hater and neither am I a super fan. In fact, I’m just a wrestling fan, watching him grow from a gorgeous, blue-blooded personality to the leader of DX and now the heir to the throne of Vince.

Stunner

The surprise appearances of Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin delivered another classic WrestleMania moment.

Despite McMahon now being 76 years old, Austin had no problem delivering another Stone Cold stunner to his old foe, but boy did it not go down easily, causing a massive frenzy within the WWE Universe.

It all started when Pat McAfee called McMahon, who was ringside, which caused him to tear off his suit, revealing his iconic vest below.

Vince McMahon did not win all four previous attempts at this event, but with some intervention, the WWE President managed to end the losing streak.

With McMahon finally getting the win, which took him nearly two decades, you’d think it would be time for him to celebrate.

This seemed to be happening, as his former rival shared a drink with McMahon in the ring.

Botch

Vince McMahon surprised the wrestling world by returning to the ring at WrestleMania on Sunday. However, Mr. McMahon’s failure to hit the Stunner sent WWE fans into a frenzy.

Like Stone Cold’s return Saturday at WrestleMania, no one expected a match tonight on Night Two of the show, given the age of the WWE chairman.

Austin Theory, who has been projected as McMahon’s mentor for the past few months, got into an altercation with SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee after he earned Boss’s honor as a special guest on The Pat McAfee Show.

Over the following weeks, Theory and SmackDown commentators became involved in a physical confrontation after an earlier provocation on Raw and SmackDown.

The match between Pat McAfee and Theory was made official and tonight took place at WrestleMania Sunday. The former NFL star took his first win at Show of Shows by defeating Theory with a rollup.

However, Vince McMahon entered the ring after the match and then proceeded to a quick match with McAfee. Despite being away from in-ring competition for so long, Mr. McMahon gave McAfee some solid hits. The WWE CEO won the match after Theory offered him some assistance.

Surprises ensued when McMahon’s rival, Stone Cold Steve Austin, had a hit as music president and his in-ring teammates celebrated. The Texas Rattlesnake offered the WWE owner a beer and proceeded to leave with the stunner for a friendly toast afterwards.
