Mike Conley: Contract| College| Age| Jr

Former Ohio State point guard Mike Conley, Jr. has agreed to a new three-year contract with the Utah Jazz, according to Shams Charnia of The Athletic.

Conley already has a long — and if we’re being honest — a very short NBA career. It all started with Conley being drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies as the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft. He spent the first 12 years of his career at Memphis before being traded to the Utah Jazz after the 2018–2019 season, where he has been for the last two campaigns.

For his career, Conley has averaged 14.9 points, 5.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 32.2 minutes of play.

Now, it appears Conley will likely be able to end his career in Utah, where he made the first All-Star appearance of his 14-year career during the 2021 season.

The deal is said to be for three years, and according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, is worth $72.5 million. Congratulations to our favorite H-O-R-S-E champion Connelly on getting paid at the end of his career.

In his freshman year at Ohio State, Conley averaged 11.3 points and led the Big Ten Conference in assists per game. Connelly teamed up with fellow new star Greg Oden to lead the Buckeyes to the Big Ten Conference Championship and the NCAA Tournament runner-up.

On the way to the championship game, the Buckeyes defeated Central Connecticut State, Xavier, Tennessee, Memphis and Georgetown, only to lose to repeat national champion Florida in the championship game. Conley’s best performance in the tournament came in a match against Xavier. He recorded 21 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks as Ohio State defeated the Musketeers in overtime. Greg Oden made a foul in regulation, and Conley scored 11 of his 21 points in the extra period to lead Bucky to victory.

Conley was named to the All-Big Ten First Team, ending the season with 441 points and 238 assists.

After his freshman season, Conley announced his intention to enter the 2007 NBA Draft with Oden. He did not initially sign with an agent in order to maintain his eligibility to withdraw from the draft, but signed with his father several weeks before the draft.
