Elite 8

After Thursday’s opening of Sweet 16, there is only one No. 1 seed left in the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. In fact, many double-digit seeds still stand as are the first and second seeds (three each).

1 overall seed Gonzaga and No. 1 in South Zone Arizona were both ejected on Thursday, while No. 2 seeds Duke and Villanova survived and moved on. 1 seed, Kansas, is one of eight teams in action Friday night, when the tournament ground will be shaved down to just eight.

After we round up the latest bracket and the rest of the schedule, we’ll be highlighting four games on Friday’s docket.

Most wins

Kansas’ 66-61 win over Providence on Friday at the United Center not only propelled the Jayhawks into the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, but also gave KU’s program the most wins in college basketball history. After the victory, KU has registered 2,354 wins against 877 losses. Kentucky, which lost to the St. Peters in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, is 2,353-720. Portal

In just a few years, the NCAA transfer portal for college basketball has changed its life. Outside of the NCAA Tournament, it’s the most entertaining and talked-about topic of all college hoops come spring.

This year the portal is once again gathering huge buzz. With the NCAA allowing first transfers without seating, grade transfers still available, and many players using up the extra year given to them as a result of COVID-19, transfers are once again moving at a rapid pace. The pace this year is not as high as last year, but there is a lot of talent available.

The passion people have for intercollegiate athletics plays a role in perpetuating these questions. During downtime between seasons, additions or subtractions to a team’s roster have always drawn interest. But with the advent of transfer portals, interest in the process of approving transfers has intensified – partly because the idea of a new digital tool to manage it is intriguing, and partly because the media and public have access to the portal. There is no access. ,

Transfer Portal as a compliance tool to systematically manage end-to-end transfer process, add more transparency to the process between schools and empower student-athletes to know their willingness to consider other programs was created.

St. Peter’s

The St. Peters Peacocks basketball team is a basketball team that represents St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey. The school’s team currently competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and is led by fourth-year head coach Shaheen Holloway.

Peter’s Peacock confiscated the front and back pages of the New York Post on Saturday, a day removed from advancing to the Elite Eight in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

St Peter’s Peacock celebrates its victory over Purdue in front of thousands at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.

As the on-court festivities waned, Peacock moved into the locker room for a second round of festivities – a more private one. Players broke their phones to capture the historic moment as music played across the room. Peacock was on the elite eight.
