Vs izzo record

But on Sunday something has to be given. A lot can be said for one coach winning 12 out of 15 matches against another. Yet Izzo has something. As for the infamous record as against Izzo, he rarely loses at the NCAA Tournament in a two-day turnaround/a day in preparation. In fact, get a load of:

Krzyzewski’s record versus Izzo: 12-3 (.800)
Izzo on ODI preparation: 23-6 (.793)
One of those major trends will win out. Will K close out his career versus Izzo with one final victorious saunter via the handshake line, or will Izzo add to his wardrobe of memorable March victories? Duke-Michigan State will be the centerpiece to wrap up the weekend, and it’s all too fitting that Brackett is giving us such a matchup. 15 Cal State Fullerton (78-61), who set the table for MSU’s incredible fight against Bob McKillop’s Davidson team.

“I thought it was a little bit of a roller coaster, but it’s a helluva team we beat,” Izzo said. “Bob is a helluva coach. I’ve known this for many years, and I was impressed.”

Coach Kay has, in many ways, set the standard for excellence in the sport over the past 35 years, while Izzo has been as successful in March as almost anyone has in the past 25 years. Krzyzewski’s career tournament record is 98–30. His .766 win percentage is No. 1 among active coaches. Izzo is fourth (53–22, .707) among active coaches and has trained at least 15 games in the NCAA.

GREENVILLE, SC — After his failed attempt to address the inevitable question about a potential second-round matchup with No. 2 Duke on Wednesday, Tom Izzo told No. 7 Michigan State. to play against Mike Krzyzewski, whom he called his “best friend”.

Two days later, Izzo got his wish: The Spartans squeaked at No. 10 Davidson 74-73, and Duke set up a clash of Hall of Fame coaches, trailing No. 15 Cal State Fullerton 78-61.

Izzo is 3-12 all time against Krzyzewski, but Krzyzewski last played in the 2019 NCAA Tournament, it was Izzo who sent him fishing the Elite 8.

“I love the game, I don’t like the record in that matchup over the years,” Izzo said. “I have to be his favorite coach because he has us beating like a drum. Maybe one more time to play against the all-time greats.”

Coach K vs Izzo story aside, both teams will need to make good use of their practice time on Saturday to keep their dancing shoes on for next weekend.

Duke took the past few weeks a step further in comparing his defensive flaws and lack of rigor.

Nevertheless, the Blue Devils struggled against pressure from the Titans in the first half, making eight turnovers that turned into 12 points for the Titans.

Duke made adjustments in the second half, limiting miscalculations with better communication, fighting through the screen and struggling for a loose rebound. This led to Big West Conference leading scorer E.J. Anosike in Czech with just 10 points, well below their season average of 16.5 per game. The Blue Devils also equaled a season high with 10 blocks in the win.

A week after losing Mike Krzyzewski’s final home game in North Carolina, Duke fell short of coach Kay’s 16th ACC tournament win.

On Saturday night, Virginia Tech rallied 82-67 in the conference championship to punch up its NCAA Tournament ticket.

After the game, a reporter asked Wendell Moore about the team’s development in the ACC tournament. The junior, who scored 54 combined points in the last three matches, reacted thoughtfully to the team’s rapid growth.

“I think we are a much more mature team,” Moore said, according to Simon Gibbs of On3Sports. “You saw last Saturday how young we were. I think we’ve really grown up this week.”

Although Moore was handling the question well, Krzyzewski jumped in to provide his response.

“These kids have done a great job,” Krzyzewski said. “We start three new people, two of them are 18 years old. He has won 28 matches. They won the regular season, and they are going to be the top-three seeds. ,

Coach Kay has held post-game conferences before Moore was born, so he was just trying to help the 20-year-old. Answering questions after a loss is not easy for an athlete, especially a college student.

It’s natural for a college coach to protect his players, but Moore needed no help.
