Un retired
Tom Brady retired two months ago as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Now, Brady will seek the biggest non-retirement in league history after announcing a return to the Buccaneers for the 2022 season.
Brady returned to the Buccaneers a year later at age 44, throwing a league-high 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns. Trailing the Rams 27-3 in the divisional round of the playoffs, two Brady touchdown passes helped Tampa Bay tie the score with 42 seconds . There were two major breakthroughs for the Rams, from Matthew Stafford to Cooper Kupp, to dethrone the falling Buccaneers in their quest to win back-to-back titles.
The Buccaneers’ championship window, which seemed closed after Brady’s retirement, is open once again with news of Brady’s return. With the start of his quest for a record eighth championship, Brady would like to join the following list of NFL players who enjoyed success after a brief retirement.

Just six weeks after announcing that he would no longer make a “competitive commitment” to playing football, Brady announced that he was returning to the NFL for a 23rd season. He also announced that he would be staying with the Buccaneers, which he has played for the past two seasons.
Brady’s return to football, and in particular the Buccaneers, has come as little surprise. There was speculation that Brady was looking to play elsewhere when he returned to the NFL, with one report suggesting that the “honeymoon” between Brady and the Buccaneers was over.
Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arian, who was furious that Brady would not play anywhere else if he returned, celebrated the news on Sunday.
“Total excitement,” Arian told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. She also wrote “LFG” to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports when asked about the news.

Hours after the announcement, Ariane and Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht each issued statements.
“Tom Brady loves playing football as much as anyone I’ve ever been around,” Arian said. “As Tom said, his place is on the football field right now. He is still playing at a championship level and last season was as productive as anyone in the league. We are happy that he has continued to play and has another one. Decided to work towards winning the championship.
“We are thrilled that Tom has decided to return this season,” Licht wrote in his statement. “We said we would leave all options open to him if he reconsiders his retirement and today’s announcement is something we have been preparing for in recent days. Bruce and I have had a lot of conversations with Tom recently that led us to believe there was a real chance he would want to come back. Tom is the greatest quarterback of all time who is still playing at an elite level. With this decision now made, we will continue to move forward to reload our off-season plans.

Evans caught a touchdown pass with 3:20 remaining in the Bucks’ playoff game against the Rams. The Bucks were rallying at the time, so no one knew that football Brady’s final NFL touchdown was about to pass. Update: Brady is back, which means someone spent $518K on random footballs.

Tom Brady reversed a call made last month, revealing on Sunday that he would no longer be retiring from the NFL.
“Over the past two months I have realized that my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it is not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible,” the quarterback wrote on Twitter.
Brady, 44, confirmed, “I’m back in Tampa for my 23rd season. Unfinished Business LFG.”

“He feels his work is unfinished and wants another year,” a source told People.
The 7-time Super Bowl champion’s Twitter post included two photos: one of his Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman, and another from his family — wife Gisele Bündchen, and children Vivian Lake, 9, Benjamin Wren, 12, and John “Jack” Edward, 14.
