Brighton vs Liverpool: Player ratings| Highlights| Analysis
Liverpool Football Club is an English association football club based in Liverpool, Merseyside, which competes in the top tier of English football for the 2021–22 season. The club was formed in 1892 after a disagreement between Everton’s board and the club’s president, John Holding, who owned the club’s grounds, Anfield. Everton left Anfield for Goodison Park as a result of a rent dispute, which left Holding with an empty stadium. Not satisfied with his grounds being vacant, he formed his own club: Liverpool. Liverpool joined the Lancashire League upon its foundation before the 1892–93 season. They finished their inaugural season as league champions, and were elected to the Football League shortly thereafter. The club remained in The Football League until 1992, when its First Division was superseded as the top tier of English football by the newly formed Premier League.

The Colombian showed great bravery to go home to the opener and he looked a great threat every time he pulled a defender apart face to face.
BRIGHTON & HOVE, ENGLAND – Saturday, March 12, 2022: Luis Diaz (R) of Liverpool during the FA Premier League match between Brighton.
Highlights
Liverpool went ahead in the opening 20 minutes despite a strong start from Graham Potter, with Luis Diaz scoring his first Premier League goal for the club since arriving in January.
In the race behind the Colombian was an excellent Joel Matip long ball, with Diaz defeating goalkeeper Robert Sánchez and valiantly heading home to make the Reds 1–0. Sanchez was lucky to stay on the pitch, with Diaz saving the opener from injury after the two collided in the process of netting.
Liverpool were relatively comfortable after Diaz’s goal as they led 1–0 at the break, and they doubled their advantage in the second half via a Mohamed Salah penalty, when Nabi Keita’s strike inside the box was hit by Yves Bisouma. The hand was blocked, his 20th Premier League goal of the season with Egypt’s victory.
Salah was withdrawn minutes later with a suspected ankle injury, which remains a concern ahead of the Emirates tour midweek, with Diogo Jota coming in with Thiago, who has replaced Keita.
There were chances for both sides in the final ten minutes but it eventually ended 2–0 in favor of the Reds, with Klopp’s side now only three points away from league-leader Manchester City.
Analysis
Liverpool travel to out-of-sorts Brighton in the first game of the Premier League weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s side may have had some luck leaving Anfield with all three points against West Ham and lost the night to Inter Milan on Tuesday, although can enter the game with confidence.
As impressive as Graham Potter’s Brighton are, they have now lost four in a row and tend to struggle at home.
Obviously, they claim quality but have hit a sticky patch, which means Liverpool definitely approach this as the favourite.
They will need all three points if they are going to increase the pressure on Manchester City, who ironically play Brighton’s biggest rivals Crystal Palace on Monday night.
