There haven’t been many comebacks like what we saw from Cody Brundez in UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Ankalev. A comeback win usually involves a fighter rally being dropped or nearly frozen, with about 50 unanswered strikes taking many not many comebacks.
That’s what Brundage was able to do against Dalch Lungiambula. Brundage was getting battered along the fence, hoping that Lungianbula would either tire or make a mistake. Lungiambula hit a flurry of punches and then went inside for a shot and Brundez saw his shot. He pulled the guillotine and was able to end the fight.
It is tied for the fourth-highest statistical return in UFC middleweight history. What a way to win your first career UFC.
Night performance: Azamat Murzakanov
Azamat Murzakanov’s UFC debut wasn’t perfect, but the undefeated Russian was able to weather the storm brought on by light heavyweight prospect Tafon Tchukvi and smash into the start of the third round.
Murzakanov executed a graceful flying knee that immediately smacked Tchukawi to the canvas. No further strikes were needed and just like that, Murzakanov went on to lead 11-0 and is on the right track to gain a foothold in the division.
Show of the Night: Khaleel Routry Jr.
After a strong first round match against Karl Roberson, Khaleel Routry would take Roberson away via TKO in the opening moments of the second round. The rowtry immediately put pressure on Roberson to start the second round. Once Routry senses that he has hurt Robson, the Las Vegas native will unleash another barrage of heavy attacks that will eventually knock Roberson to the canvas.
As Roberson attempts to get back on his feet, the rowtry will land a powerful body kick that will force Roberson into cover as well. Referee Herb Dean will stop the competition by 25 seconds in the round.

Results
In the UFC Fight Night main event, Magomed Ankalev extended his winning streak to eight with a five-round unanimous decision over former light heavyweight title challenger Thiago Santos.
The score was 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 for the 6-ranked Ankalev, which is now 17-1. Number 5 ranked Santos falls to 22-10.
There was little action in the first 90 seconds, and Anklaw ended that stalemate with a couple right hands that made their mark and caught Santos’ attention. Three minutes in and it was a left that momentarily stung the Brazilian, who had not been able to put his offense into gear in the first five minutes.
Both got busy to start round two, but Santos was still unnoticeable, while Ankalev got a good right-hand-left kick combination. In the closing 30 seconds, however, Santos may have stolen the round from the top left-hander that knocked the Russian down.
With the prospect of a fight even on the scorecard, the pair had three rounds to go ahead and take the fight, and each contestant increased their work rate but neither was able to make a definitive statement on winning the
Santos began to lead the dance in the fourth and had a breakthrough in the opening minute before falling back into a counterstrike stance with Anklaev leading. In the final minute, Ankalev closed against the fence with Santos scoring his first takedown, a major scoring moment for the Russian.
In fifth, there was still precious little crucial action, but Anklaev secured his win on the scorecard with his battling work against the fence as he stopped Santos from hitting a late bounce.

The 29-year-old secured his eighth consecutive win under the UFC banner in the UFC Fight Night 203 Main Event, defeating former title challenger Thiago Santos in a unanimous decision. Ankalev (17-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) received approval from all three cage-side judges at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas as he finished Santos (22-9 MMA, 14-8 UFC) with a score of 49–46. Defeated. 49-46, and 48-47.
Although it was a good name to add to his record, Anklaev had a fairly uneven fight against Santos, as both fighters were very tentative and had low outputs.
Both Ankalev and Santos were very careful in their striking. Anclave watched as the action progressed while Santos looked to counter Anklaev on his back foot.
The Russian worked his way to a decision victory, chasing Santos down and landing the better shots of the fight. It was the same story for most of the fight with the exception of the second round where Santos dropped Anklaev at the end of the round and managed to take the top spot and land some ground and pounds before the bell rang.

Ankalev eventually won a unanimous decision victory, extending their division-best winning streak, but some are likely to call for a shot at the division crown after a fight that saw both men’s action. was seriously lacking.

Having largely relied on wild strikes to land a little more effectively than Santos, the official scorecards all went in Anklaev’s favour, with scores 49–46, 49–46 and 48–4. was 47.
