Tyrese Maxi is an American basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Prior to his NBA career, he played for the Kentucky Wildcats during his college years.
The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Maxi in the 2020 NBA Draft. He was the 21st pick overall and signed a 4-year contract with Philly.
Early in his career, he recorded 39 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 115–103 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Former Kentucky standout Tyrese Maxi wasn’t known for his long-distance shooting appearances in the NBA. As the 19-year-old prospect shot just 29-cents out of three during his lone season with the Wildcats, Maxi was not expected to move to the NBA and make an impact beyond the arc.
During his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Maxi was in and out of rotation and was primarily a bench substitute. In 61 games, Maxi hit a par with his college days, as he knocked out only 30-cents of his threes in 1.7 attempts per game.
While his shooting to three was certainly a coming concern in the league, Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, after picking Maxie with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, clarified that the team was about his struggles in that department. Wasn’t worried. ,
Fast forward to Maxi’s sophomore effort, and the patience and confidence in the second-year guard is paying off for the 76ers. As a full-time starter with 76 this season, Maxi has started in all of the 54 games he has appeared in during the 2021-2022 NBA season.
Going into the All-Star break, Maxi increased his three-point percentage to 39 on 3.6 attempts per game. It’s clear Maxi’s long-range shot has become a lot more reliable during his sophistication effort, but he’s been even more productive beyond the arc after a week-long break.
In the three games before the break, Maxi hit 64 percent of his threes through 14 attempts. When the 76ers faced the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night, the young guard helped raise that average even higher as he scored five out of six threes in a 125-119 win over Cleveland.
