Johnson, who started the season with the South Bay Lakers in the G League, has been playing for Los Angeles in the past 14 games (including six starts) on three separate 10-day deals.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the new contract is for two seasons with a team option in 2022-23.

Salary

The 25-year-old Wing averaged 6.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.2 minutes with LA and shot a career-best 51.6% from the field and 34.4% from 3-points. Johnson, ranked 8th overall in the 2015 draft, has played for the Pistons, Pelicans and Raptors during his NBA career.

The Lakers (24-24) are currently seeded 9th in the West standings.

One of the more interesting signs that the Chicago Bulls entered training camp and preseason last month was former Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Pelicans short forward Stanley Johnson. Signed to a non-guaranteed contract prior to the start of camp and preseason, Johnson was one of several wing/forward additions to the roster since last month.

But it was hard to figure out where Johnson might contribute value to head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls’ second year going into the season. Even so, signing someone like Johnson still makes sense if it eventually ends. That wasn’t the only thing Johnson faced during this brief preseason/camp with the Bulls.
