Jorge Masvidal dropped an interesting point about his former training partner and arch-rival Colby Covington ahead of his main event clash at UFC 272.
During an interview with ESPN’s Max Kellerman, Masvidal claimed that Covington gets “shingles” every time he panics. According to ‘gamebread’:
“I hope he doesn’t have matted herpes this week in the exchange so I don’t even come to the exchange because he has that disgusting funk on his face that I’ve seen. He usually gets it from nerves and when he’s stressed So I guess she’s a little nervous now for some reason.”
Of course, there is no way to verify Masvidal’s claims. However, according to the Mayo Clinic, cold sores can actually be triggered by a variety of factors, including excessive stress.
Masvidal also said that Covington has always been apprehensive about a feud with him. With that in mind, the Miami resident claims his game plan is simple. He said:
“I know him. I have, he has, things to say about me. I know him. One time I hit him hard on the body and he took off his gloves. He had to get out of the cage.” .. He used to tell the coaches, ‘We don’t need to separate me and Masvidal. We can wrestle all the time but we don’t have to restrain.’ And it shows on his record, I mean, he doesn’t hurt anyone. He has no power. I know what to do, just be a dog, be the dog I’ve always been And go in front of his face and just let him take it, expose him.”

Another major factor in the 34-year-old’s advancement in the game is Daniel Valverde. A judo black belt since the age of 19, Valverde has helped the former interim welterweight champion improve his offensive grip.
