Zion Williamson has made headlines in recent months and not once for her performance on the court. The New Orleans Pelicans young star has been heavily criticized for his weight since joining the league in 2019.

Things got worse over the next two years, with Zion gaining more weight, setting the alarm for the Pelicans, and giving fans a lot of meme material. He has missed a bunch of games during his first two seasons in the NBA, and this has been no exception.

Zion Williamson is still out of action for the New Orleans Pelicans, and while he is in the process of rehabilitating his injured leg, he is making it off the team. According to Christian Clark of the New Orleans Advocate, Williamson is rehabbing in Oregon with a former LSU strength coach. While Williamson boarded team owner Gail Benson’s private jet for the trip, no Pelicans official accompanied the star.

Williamson is yet to be fit for New Orleans this season as he recovers from off-season foot surgery. The team originally announced on November 26 that they had been cleared to participate in full team activities, but a few days later, they were once again discontinued from basketball activities.

Trade rumors

There are reportedly plans to chase the next star around the NBA for teams that are unhappy with his position.

Howard Beck of Sports Illustrated (h/t Hoopsheep) reported: “Team officials are already desperate (and/or plotting) to ask to oust the next disillusioned star, including Zion in New Orleans. The focus is on Damien Lillard and Donovan in Williamson, Portland. Mitchell in Utah.”

Mitchell’s inclusion comes after the Utah Jazz star addressed speculation that he would be leaving the only NBA team during a conversation with Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes.

“It’s going to be a matter of whether I say anything, do I say nothing because I’ve always been like that,” he said. “I’ve always been someone like, ‘Okay, they’re saying stuff. Let’s go ahead and lock in.’ I haven’t really thought about it too much. I’m just happy and looking for ways to win.”
