We knew this day would come someday. Tiger could not return to the PGA Tour without facing the public first.

Friday morning at 11 a.m. EST Tiger Woods will sit in front of a microphone in front of select media outlets, and tell the world what we’ve known for a long time. Not to mention that he would do so on his own terms, not answering a single question.

A statement released on their official website reads:

Tiger Woods will speak to a small group of friends, co-workers and close associates on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the TPC Sovereign Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future, and he plans to apologize for his behavior.

Players championship wins

After a surprising turn of events, Tiger Woods has held on to win the 2013 Players Championship. Woods scored a final round 70 and finished with a 13-under cumulative score to secure his fourth win of the 2013 season.

Most importantly, Woods put an end to the debate as to whether or not he was officially back.

Tiger was tied at 13-under par with Sergio Garcia entering the 17th hole of the final round. It was only appropriate after two verbal blows throughout the tournament, with Garcia saying that Woods “is not the best man.”

In the end, the bad guy won and the good man lost, as Garcia scored 6-over par shots on the final two holes and Woods won.

It was the second time Woods had won The Players Championship and the first since 2001. As luck would have it, Jack Nicklaus is the only player to have won the event three different times.

The chase continues. Prior to this calendar year, there was speculation that Woods’ search of the countless records of Nicklaus would decline. After the infamous scandal we’d love to forget and the fact that Woods hasn’t won a major tournament since 2008, speculation had merit.

However, with his win at the 2013 Players Championship, Woods has put an end to the debate – he is back.
