The Daytona 500 is a 500-mile-long (805 km) NASCAR Cup Series motor race held annually at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is the first of two cup races held each year in Daytona, the other being the Coke Zero 400, and one of three held in Florida, with the annual spring showdown Dixie Vodka 400 held at Homestead, south of Miami. From 1988 to 2019, it was one of four restrictive plate races on the cup schedule. The inaugural Daytona 500 was held in 1959 with the opening of the speedway, and since 1982, it has been the season-opening race of the Cup Series.

42 drivers ready to take to the track. The field is divided into two groups. The first group is the ones that dropped out of the top 20 in owner points last season. Group B will be the top 20 in terms of marks.

So far 12 drivers have landed on the track. Daniel Heimrich is the fastest car ever, Heimrick was the first car to do a lap turn.

In 26 cars, rookie Harrison Burton jumps to the top of the board. The first car to ever top Heimrich. Moments later, Ross Chastain takes the top spot.

In 37 Cars, Chase Elliot jumps to the top of the board. The next car to go, Alex Bowman, is on top of him. William Byron did the same then. As Kyle Larsson walks in, Hendricks Motorsports is now set in the top four.

The start of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season is officially here, and after several different qualification processes, the starting lineup for the season-opening Daytona 500 is set.

Earlier Wednesday, there was single-car qualifying at the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway track to determine the two cars starting from the front row. Defending champion Kyle Larsson won pole, while his Hendricks Motorsports teammate, Alex Bowman, was the second fastest car and would start the second race.

The remainder of the arena lineup was determined based on the results of the two duels at Daytona on Thursday night.

Brad Keselowski and Chris Buscher of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing sweep the Duels – the first sweep for a team since Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmy Johnson for Hendrick Motorsports in 2015 – and the Daytona 500 in third and fourth in the second row. will start with, respectively.
