Quad jump
“Performing with a team like this means everything. We all did such a great job. I’m so proud of my team.”
Veliva executed a quad salco—including four full rotations in the air—while performing Ravel’s “Bolero” in the free skate.
She then went on to land a quad toloop and triple axle in the same routine, though she fell in her second quad toloop attempt.
According to Team Canada’s official Olympic website, Canada’s Kurt Browning became the first person to compete in the quad jump at the 1988 World Figure Skating Championships.

Fifteen-year-old Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva made history during the women’s free skate portion of the team event at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Valieva made her first quadruple jump ever in women’s competition at the Olympics, and she did it twice. He completed a quad salchow and a quad toe, which included a triple toe combination.
Valiva added a triple axle as she did on Saturday in the women’s short event. She is one of four competitors from Japan’s Midori Ito and Mao Asada and USA’s Mirai Nagasu to have a place in the women’s event at the Olympics.
Veliva fell when she attempted a third quadruple jump, the first time she’d fallen on a quad in competition in an entire season. Despite the fall, his impressive run earned him a score of 178.92.
Quad
Valieva, who only made her senior debut last year and is now set to win gold in singles, won the free skate with 178.92 points – more than 30 points ahead of Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto in second.
The dominant performance took the ROC total to 74 points to wrap up their second gold of Beijing 2022. USA finished on 65 points and Japan on 63.
“I am more than happy. It’s a wonderful feeling. I was burdened with responsibility, but I came out as the winner,” Veliva said.
“I feel this burden and this pressure. This is my first season among adult skaters and I believe that I am facing this pressure; sometimes it moves me and helps me.” does.”
Performance
Kamila Valieva made history as she completed her — and Russia’s — dominant charge towards the team figure skating event gold medal.
The 15-year-old sensation became the first woman to land a quad in the Olympics. A few moments later, for good measure, she then became the first to do it twice.
“We will be talking about this moment for the next 100 years,” NBC Olympics commentator Tara Lipinski said on the broadcast.
Valieva opened her performance with a quad salchow before landing a triple axel. She followed with her second quad shortly after. She scored 178.92 points, netting Russia 74 points to clinch the gold medal — its second in three editions of the team event.
“My goodness. If that performance didn’t inspire the whole world to take up ice skating, I don’t know what would,” NBC analyst Johnny
