Antonio Brown is now sharing his side of the story in his feud with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and head coach Bruce Arian.
The talented wideout prematurely skipped his team’s Week 17 game against the Jets, jogging shirtless in the locker room.
Brown issued a statement on Wednesday, through his lawyers, to defend himself against claims that he had refused to enter the game when told by coaching staff.
“I took a seat on the sidelines, and my coach came up to me, very upset, and shouted, ‘What has happened to you? What’s wrong with you?’ I told him, ‘This is my ankle.’ But, he knew. It was well documented, and we discussed it. Then he ordered me to come on the field. I said, ‘Coach, I can’t.’ He didn’t call for therapy,” Brown said. “Instead, he yelled at me, ‘You’re done!’ When he swung his finger around his throat. The coach was telling me that if I didn’t play with an injury, I was done with the Books.”
Why did bench antonio brown
Antonio Brown issued a statement on Sunday explaining his sideline meltdown at the Buccaneers-Jets game, which led to his apparent release in Tampa Bay.
Brown claimed in a statement released Wednesday through his attorney Sean Burstyn that he was “triggered” by conversations with coach Bruce Arian, when the star receiver was later “ordered” to return to the field. That back-and-forth was the base of Brown’s meltdown, which saw him remove his shoulder pads, undershirt and gloves before leaving the stadium.
