Vancouver Canucks: Standings| Trade Rumors| Stanley Cup…
The first professional ice hockey team based in Vancouver were the Vancouver Millionaires, formed by Frank and Lester Patrick. Established in 1911, the Millionaires were one of three teams in the new Pacific Coast Hockey Association. To accommodate the Millionaires, the Patrick brothers directed the building of the Denman Arena, which was known at the time as the world’s largest artificial ice rink.

Standings
The high-flying Ducks, who were 6-1-3 in their previous 10 games, had 11 days off and were missing Trevor Zegras, Sam Steel and Max Comtois to COVID-19 protocol and Adam Henrique to injury.
And with the Canucks missing Brock Boeser, who had five goals in his last six games, to the virus protocol along with Phillip Di Giuseppe, the issue would likely be settled by breaks. The given was that Ducks stopper John Gibson would continue to confound the Canucks.
Trade Rumors
A ‘bold prediction’ that the Toronto Maple Leafs will find a way to re-sign goaltender Jack Campbell. On a bargain deal at $1.65 million and will be looking for a nice raise.
Last offseason the Maple Leafs gave Petr Mrazek a three-year deal at $11.4 million. Jacob Markstrom and Phillip Grubauer got six years at $6 million and $5.9 million respectively.
The Leafs don’t have much cap space to work with. They may need to include a sweetener to trade Mrazek or could possibly buy him out. Other trade options could include defenseman Jake Muzzin and/or forward Alexander Kerfoot.
Defensemen Travis Dermott and Justin Holl could be trade options by the March 21st trade deadline. If GM Kyle Dubas is wanting to improve the right side of their blue line, their best trade chips would include Nick Robertson, Rodion Amirov or their 2022 first-round pick. Trade targets could include Mark Giordano, Josh Manson or Ben Chiarot.
Stanley Cup
The Canucks have appeared in the Stanley Cup finals three times (1982, 1994, and 2011), losing on each occasion. Their name comes from a nickname for Canadians that is probably of 19th-century American origin and that at first may have been pejorative but ultimately was embraced with pride by Canadians.
