Vikings[a] is the modern name given to seafarers, mainly from Scandinavia (present-day Denmark, Norway and Sweden), [4] [5] [6] who raided from the late 8th to the end of the 11th century. They pirated, traded, and settled in parts of Europe.[7][8][9] They also traveled to the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Middle East, and North America. In some countries they raided and settled, this period is popularly known as the Viking Age, and the term “Viking” usually includes the inhabitants of the Scandinavian homeland collectively. The Vikings had a profound influence on the early medieval history of Scandinavia, the British Isles, France, Estonia, and Kievan Rus’.
Inactives
Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen tested his ankle injury on Soldier Field turf on Monday evening, but was ruled out of the second game while he recovered. Thylen is officially inactive for the Vikings’ must-win matchup with the Bears tonight.
It would essentially be a third straight missed game for Thielen, who lost to the Lions in the opening minutes of Vikings Week 13. He was surprisingly pulled out in a win over the Steelers four days later, but was expected to get a chance to play in Chicago. The focus is now on a possible return in the home match against the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday.
Without Thylen, Dede Westbrook, and Dan Chisena — the latter two on the reserve/COVID list — the four active receivers for the Vikings’ Monday Night Football include Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborne, and rookies Ihmir Smith-Marset and Myron Mitchell. Smith-Marsett has just one catch this season, while Mitchell was dropped from the practice team and will make his NFL debut.
Game tonight
The Minnesota Vikings made a massive comeback from a disastrous loss to the Lions two weeks earlier after beating the Steelers 36-28. They did not take it easy on themselves, almost losing a 29–0 lead, but in the end they managed to win. Now, at 6-7, the Vikings find themselves right in chasing the playoffs, even after losing to the Lions and the Cooper Rush-led Cowboys.
However, to stay that way, he would have to go through the Chicago Bears. Justin Fields got off to a good start on his return to play after injuring his ribs, but the Bears ultimately failed to beat their boogeyman Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in primetime at Lambeau last week. Now they get to play it back in a game night at home against another divisional opponent, in which they will try to play spoilers against Kirk Cousins and the Vikings.
Spread
In contrast, the Bears have nine games based on a number of points. They’ve played quite a bounce or bust this year, and it looked like it ran out of steam last week as Rodgers and the Packers capitalized. Perhaps playing at home will give the Bears a little boost this week. Although they aren’t exactly in the running for the playoffs at the moment, chasing a division rival’s playoffs in primetime would be a welcome consolation prize for Chicago fans.
Here’s what you need to know to watch the Vikings and Bears this Monday, including kickoff times, TV channels, and 15 NFL schedules throughout the week.

Chicago played a 4-10 team for Monday’s matchup. He began the game aggressively with three-and-out and two fumbles (Vikings coming at the 10-yard line). Over that same stretch, Minnesota would take a 10-0 lead, essentially winning the game it needed to win.
Overall, there were many instances where bears were beating themselves. He had nine penalties that sent him 91 yards in the wrong direction. However, his main issues came in the red zone. They could not get the football across the goal line when it was counted, and this kept them chasing the Vikings all evening. This proved to be a fatal flaw for Chicago as it otherwise overtook the Vikings in total yards of offense of 370–193.
